Where did the weekend go?

Ahh the start of another week. . . seems like the weekends just fly by way too fast! Friday night we had some friends over to watch the Blazer's game and play some games. It was fun to get my mind off of everything and just relax. Earlier in the day on friday i had decided to email my birth father for the first time, which has been weighing heavily on me lately. It was good to just do it but really difficult at the same time. I have always wondered about my birth parents but putting everything into reality was really hard so it was nice to relax a little.

Saturday I woke up early and helped out at the March of Dimes fundraiser for my dad's work. It was fun to spend time with him, plus we got to go to two of my favorite places for lunch and dinner. Dan had to work a 24 hour shift so it was nice to just spend some time with my dad. I had to work that night so that pretty much took up the rest of my day.

Sunday morning dan got home around 8 and we lounged around in bed for like and hour and then decided to go to our favorite bakery in portland for breakfast. After that we drove to my parents house and went for a bike ride and chatted with them for a little while. I had to work sunday night too so dan went for a run and made me dinner. When i got home from work we ate dinner, relaxed, and played games all night. It was really nice to just spend time together.

Now it's monday night and he's at drill again. I've been doing homework all evening waiting for him to get home so we can have dinner together and watch the hills :-) hopefully this week will go by fast . . . i'm excited to go to the beach on sunday with the family!!
Have a great week!!

Goodnight

Tonight was so nice & relaxing....I spent the afternoon doing homework and then went over to my parents for dinner. Its nice to be able to go over there and have dinner with my mom and dad when dan's on shift. I get lonely at home on the nights when he's gone so its nice to have their company. After dinner we went for a bike ride down to the station to say hi to dan. My parents had never really seen much of the station so dan gave them the whole tour. He showed them all the rigs and talked to them about everything about them and what different things do. It was super cute to see him show my dad around and just watch them interact. I love how well our family fits together.

After talking to him for about a half hour we rode back home and then hung out and talked for a little while. Sometimes I miss just hanging out and talking at home. I especially miss seeing my brother cause I rarely see him anymore. Its fun to be home like tonight, and have him come down and ask us to listen to the new song he recorded. Lately he's been recording his own rap music and i'm so proud of him. He writes things that i never would have thought of. Today he asked my mom if he would still have to go to college if he got a recording contract hehe. Its neat to see him so interested in something.

Before heading home I went by the station to talk to dan for a bit before he went to bed. Its not very often that i actually get to see him on days that he works and I never get to see him twice so it was a nice treat. Now i'm home and just relaxing before bed, looking forward to spending the next two days with my fiance!! it has been a while since we've gotten to spend the entire day together so i'm really looking forward to tomorrow and getting to have dinner with him since we haven't had dinner just the two of us since last tuesday.

Well time for bed . . . can't wait for dan to be home :-)

Getting Started

I have always read other people's blogs and just decided it was about time I entered the blogging world. Writing has always been so relaxing to me, and i thought this might be an excellent way to keep in touch with people and record things going on in our lives.

As an update on what's going on in our lives lately. I'm still at Linfield, finishing up my junior year and looking for summer internships. Normal weeks for me include school, homework, work (at fred meyer) and spending time with dan when our schedules permit. We are doing wedding planning little by little, trying to take our time and enjoy it all together.

Recently Dan finished up school and passed his national certification to become a Paramedic. I am so proud of him and it is so nice to seem him a little less stressed. Dan is at work on one of his regular shift days, which means he works 24 hours straight. So 7am today until 7am tomorrow. He works 24 hour shifts every third day. That doesn't include drills on monday nights, union meetings once a month, and the other million meetings that come along with the fire department. It was hard to get used to his weird schedule at first, but it's starting to become more normal.

It has been so nice out the last couple days. I have been able to go bike riding a lot and start working on my tan hehe. Dan and I have tried to work out and doing a lot more active things lately. Its a nice way to spend time together and be healthy at the same time. Today I am just hanging around the house cleaning, organizing, doing homework and playing with the cats every so often. Its nice to have our own place and have some time to myself every now and then.

Life's greatest accomplishments are those that at first seem impossible. . .
